The story

Our entrepreneurs begun their journey in August, 2018 .

By then, Claudio was hired after finishing his studies in aerospace engineering. He started his journey as an engineering consultant in a lead project in work management for the biggest aircraft manufacturer in Europe and worked in three different countries in less than a year. This was key, as he started to see patterns in the way people managed work that were repeated no matter where he went.

Meanwhile, Jorge started to work for the biggest Spanish bank and figuring out how people organize themselves, how big companies manage their employees and projects and which are their strengths and weaknesses. After a couple of years living in the UK and working in different companies and different roles, he realized that the main problem in the majority of the businesses is the lack of organization, so he decided to return to Spain and get more qualifications and improve his management skills and softskills. By the end of this period, he started working for the biggest aircraft manufacturer in Europe and, after working in the factories of two different countries, in the third one he met Claudio.

Jorge’s and Claudio’s path merged in the United Kingdom, at the beginning of 2019 while they were working together in the same work management project for the same big aircraft manufacturer. They both saw the same patterns, again

Some months flew by and Claudio was in the quest for something more after he finished his day to day job… We are speaking of an inquiring mind’s guy who wrote a thesis that pioneered a dynamic mathematical model for the design of a high altitude pseudo satellite, drafted systems to enhance safety for wingsuit pilots and developed neural networks to learn patterns in nature (and how not… in the stock markets). He says:
Anyone can get to know something about anything“… time is really the only constraint, so use it wisely.

Traveling around for inspiration he looked at the night sky to see the stars and got THE idea… a stratospheric balloon that acts as a platform to launch commercial rockets to Low Earth Orbit from more than 35 km of altitude (something that we all think about while we look at the stars…).
More than 99% of the atmosphere is below that altitude which means less drag, less fuel, smaller rocket size and engine… and bigger checks in the bank.  You see the idea, right?

Weeks flew by doing research and during the validation of the idea, after talking to many experienced aeronautical engineers, the feasibility of self funding the design and parts for a prototype was smaller and smaller. With no chance to pay the cost of the parts and no investors crazy enough to believe in the idea, he pivoted.

Zigzagging around in his studio thinking about the next idea, something clicked while he was looking at the board where he organized his tasks for the balloon project… just like in his project and in the big European aircraft manufacturer, all projects need a key thing in order to succeed. Organization. It is something that every company needs and, as he and Jorge learnt from their years of consultancy experience (seeing the patterns), something that really, really, really (don’t worry, my keyboard didn’t break down), really, few companies had succeeded at.

So there you go… you have a problem worth solving:

“How can a company succeed at organizing work?”

The simplest questions are often the hardest to answer and Claudio knew that he needed help from someone else… someone that faced this problem before, someone with a clear mind and not afraid to think big and someone that understands how businesses work… someone like Jorge.

And that is how the two embarked on a journey that would lead to the design of the simplest and most intuitive application for project management… Pulsar.

From analyzing extensively each feature of their competitors, each market they covered, each good and bad review they had, all the seed rounds they conducted and all the failures these companies had, the two became real cross functional members, ready to tackle any challenge in order to validate their idea and turn it into something real.

After more than 8 months of hard work, extensive testing and feedback, they’ve completed the prototype. You can see below how a back-of-the-envelope drawing of the wireframe became the foundation for the prototype.

Fast forward until now (August, 2020) Pulsar is entirely designed and currently is undergoing the development phase, while both entrepreneurs are attracting new customers and investors to bring to life the next generation of project management applications.

Thank you for reading our story and never forget to write yours one day. Time is ticking… make it count.
